Your Wizard of Oz/LEGOLAND Sneak Peek #3!

Welcome to the Emerald City, home of the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz.

Do you remember the first time you saw the Emerald City in the beloved film classic, The Wizard of Oz? The sight of it was probably as breathtaking for you, the movie viewer, as it was for Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion.

Located in the center of the Land of Oz, the Emerald City appears—in all its splendor—at the end of the Yellow Brick Road. In the past, you needed to wait for your next viewing of The Wizard of Oz for the Emerald City to take your breath away. That’s about to change, because beginning on April 29th, you’ll be able to visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City and head straight to The Wizard of Oz MINILAND.

Like the Wicked Witch’s Castle, which we previewed for you a couple of weeks ago, and the Munchkinland Village, which we showcased in last week’s blog posting, the Emerald City is another part of The Wizard of OzMINILAND exhibit.

Just as you’d suspect, the Emerald City replica is going to be one large, grandiose sight to behold. In fact, it took a painstaking 300 hours to complete. It consists of a whopping 75,000 LEGO bricks and weighs in at an impressive 260 pounds.

We’ll be giving you another sneak peek or two of The Wizard of Oz MINILAND exhibit in the coming days. The next will feature a look at and a description of Dorothy’s Farmhouse, where she lived with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, and their three farmhands, Hickory, Hunk, and Zeke.

Remember, beginning on April 29th, you’ll have two ways to take in the awe-inspiring Emerald City—you can either follow the Yellow Brick Road or you can go to the Crown Center on Pershing Road, and visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City. See you soon!
