Profile of Tom Brady

Tom Brady is a player for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an American football team playing in the National Football League. His position on the field is quarterback. Brady is the only player to have won the Super Bowl six times, and the only one who did so playing for one team. Tom’s achievements have led sports analysts to consider the man one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

Early years

Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. The boy became the youngest child: Tom has three older sisters. The footballer’s father, Thomas Brady Sr., is Irish by birth. His ancestors fled to the United States in the 18th century, during the Great Famine.

In the 1980s, the boy was repeatedly present at San Francisco Forty Niners games featuring legendary quarterback Joe Montana as a spectator. He became an ardent fan of the team and saw with his own eyes Montana’s famous pass to Dwight Clark at the 1982 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

In 1995, Brady graduated from Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo. There, in 9th grade, he started playing football as a linebacker and quarterback and even tried his hand at baseball. He did not achieve much success in school sports, but in the final grade, he caused a lot of interest.

American football

Brady originally chose the Michigan Wolverines, a team at the University of Michigan. For the first two years, the young man was a backup quarterback. During this period, he even had to use the services of a sports psychologist because Brady was unsure of his abilities. However, in 1998 Brady began to play on the roster and achieved the first successes.

After graduating from college, Tom Brady was admitted to the New England Patriots, a team where he spent almost his entire career. This is the NFL’s absolute record for playing for one team and when he left the team for Tampa Bay Buccaneers it was very surprising for every expert in the NFL. Till the last moment no one would have expected this move and even top online casino providers in the United States had odds against moving to the other team. One of the main reasons also was the fact that Brady is amazing and he was always the main factor for the increased odds of his team. But at the age of 42 he signed a contract, and the Patriots will definitely suffer without him.

In 2001, he became a starting quarterback, and since then, the New England Patriots have not had a single losing season.

In his second season, after Drew Bledsoe was injured, Brady became the primary quarterback. Thanks to him, the team finished 1st in the East Division of the American Football Conference and won the XXXVI Super Bowl. Brady himself then received the first Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award.

Although the New England Patriots missed the playoffs the following season, Brady helped the team win consecutive World Cups in 2003 and 2004. Along the way, the team set an NFL record of 21 games (including playoffs) in 2003 and 2004. In 2005, Brady became the NFL’s leader in passing. In the playoffs, the athlete won his 10th consecutive game and set another league record.

After that, despite frequent victories, the New England Patriots did not return to the Super Bowl until the 2007 season. Then Brady not only set an NFL record with 50 touchdowns, but also led the team to the final with a score of 16-0. That surpassed even the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who finished 14-0.

The Associated Press named him Men’s Athlete of the Year. Among NFL players, only Tom’s idol, Joe Montana, won the title in 1989 and 1990, was the last player to win the title. However, Brady missed most of the next season because of a knee injury. In 2009, he started playing again, for which he received the title of “Return of the Year”.

On September 10, 2010, Tom signed a new four-year, $72 million contract with the Patriots, becoming the NFL’s highest-paid player. This year the player together with the teamgained14 victories against only 2 defeats. For the second time in his career, Brady was named the league’s most valuable player, and the decision was unanimous. The season, however, ended prematurely in the first playoff game – the New England Patriots lost to the New York Jets, and Tom underwent surgery after the game because of a broken leg.

Legal issues

In 2015, Tom was involved in a scandal related to deflation (intentional descent) of footballs. The footballer himself categorically denied his guilt. After a series of hearings and repeated appeals, Brady was able to return to the game in September 2015

On February 29, 2016, the athlete extended his contract with the New England Patriots for two years, and three days later appealed the court’s decision, which was to be suspended for four games because of allegations of ball deflation. During the trial, despite the appeals, Tom was eventually found guilty and posted on his Facebook page that he would miss the first four games of the 2016 season.

After returning to the team, Brady helped the Patriots win 11 of the 12 remaining games of the season, as well as two playoff games. In addition, Tom received the title of the most valuable player of the Super Bowl for the 4th time. The 40-year-old scored a record 505 yards in the 2017 Super Bowl, but the team lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It is noteworthy that in 5 Super Bowls Tom willingly shook hands after the game to the quarterbacks of opponents, but after the loss did not do so. Brady has been named the Most Valuable Player four times, won six Super Bowls, and made more throws and earned touchdowns than any other quarterback in NFL playoff history.

Personal life

In December 2006, Brady began dating Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen. In a 2009 interview, the footballer revealed that they met on a blind date, which was arranged by a mutual friend of the couple.

Tom and Giselle married on February 26, 2009. The ceremony, which was attended only by close to the couple, was held at the Catholic Church in Santa Monica. The couple have two children.

Tom repeatedly appeared on the screen as himself, and in the animated series The Simpsons and Family Guy. In addition, the footballer repeatedly starred in advertising.

It is known that the football player has been friendly with US President Donald Trump for more than 16 years and supported his candidacy in the elections.
