Looking for some fresh faces to follow in the golf world for the 2021 season? Fortunately there’s no shortage of young talent waiting to be discovered by golf fans.
Here, in no particular order, we’ll take a look at 10 players from around the world that will be making headlines this golf season. Take a break from your Easy Go golf cart and take check them out!
1. Cameron Champ
With a name like Champ, how could you not expect great things from this 23-year-old, huge-hitting American? Cameron has already claimed a victory on the PGA Tour, coming at the Sanderson Farms Championship. This was only his second start on the Tour.
Prior to winning on the PGA Tour, he won while playing on the Web.com Tour back in July of 2018.
Champ looks like an exciting young talent.
2. Xander Schauffele
At only 25-years-old, Xander has notched three titles on the PGA Tour in his inaugural two seasons, including a victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2018.
Schauffele was PGA Rookie of the Year in 2017 and has already broken into the top 10 in world rankings.
3. Georgia Hall
Georgia is ready to open up women’s golf to millions of young American girls after becoming the first Women’s British Open champions from the U.S. since Karen Stupples won in 2004.
At the young age of 22, Hall has broken into the world’s top 10 rankings, and has publicly announced her goal of reading the number one ranking in the world.
Don’t be surprised if she gets there sooner rather than later.
4. Bryson DeChambeau
Known as the “Golfing Scientist,” DeChambeau held the number 5 ranking going during the 2019 season. As one of the best players in the world in 2018, he won four times on the PGA Tour, including two victories consecutively during the FedEx Cup Playoff.
After winning the 2015 U.S. Amateur championship, Bryson has claimed six professional wins since he turned pro following the 2016 Masters tournament.
The 2021 season might be the year DeChambeau wins his first Major title. Keep an eye on this up-and-coming champion!
5. Matt Wallace
The sky is the limit for Matt Wallace, with his winning mentality and strength of game. This Englishman is quickly becoming of the Europe’s best players after 2018, where he claimed three victories on the European Tour, and barely missed out on his Ryder Cup debut.
In addition to his three wins last year, he also claimed six wins on the Alps Tour during the 2016 season and one win in his maiden voyage around the European Tour in 2017.
Look for more great things from Wallace during 2021.
6. Aaron Wise
Wise was the 2018 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and appears to be a very special talent.
At only age 22, he’s already won on the Canadian Tour in 2016, the Web.com Tour a year later in 2017 and the PGA Tour in 2018 when he took down the title at the AT&T Byron Nelson.
Wise doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Look for a breakout year in 2021.
7. Abraham Ancer
Hailing from Mexico, Ancer announced his arrival in the golf world by winning the 2018 Australian Open. This took him to a career-high ranking of 57th in the world.
Abraham has already notched six top 10 finishes on the PGA Tour and keeps improving his tournament title since 2019.
8. Nasa Hataoka
At only 19 years old, this young Japanese player is easily one of the hottest prospects in golf.
When she was 17 in 2017, she won her first professional event while playing as an amateur, and claimed two victories on the LPGA Tour during the 2018 season. Look for even bigger things from Hataoka this year.
9. Andrew Putnam
American Andrew Putnam quickly shot up in the world rankings during 2018, going from outside the top 350 to 70th overall. Although he only claimed two victories on the Web.com Tour (one in 2014 and the other in 2017), 2021 remains a promising year for him.
Andrew claimed his first PGA Tour victory in 2018 at the Barracuda Championship, tied for 4th at the WGC-HSBC Champions, was runner-up at the St. Jude Classic and finished in the top 10 four other times.
10. Sungjae Im
You may have not yet heard of Sungjae, but he’s on our list of the top 10 for good reason.
The Japan-born golfer claimed two victories on the 2018 Web.com Tour and finished runner-up three additional times.
At the young age of 21, Im is now a card-carrying member of the PGA Tour and is poised to make a splash in 2021.
