Will the Lakers vs. Bucks Meet in the 2020 or 2021 NBA Finals?

Up until recently, the NBA playoffs were approaching quickly this year. Here, we are going to take a look at the playoff picture as it stands today. If by chance the NBA season is canceled completely, our analysis will apply to next season. This is because we largely anticipate the Top 2 teams in the NBA remaining the same. We’ll also go over a potential match-up between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks. We will explore the likelihood that they will meet in the Finals either this year in 2020 or in 2021.

Projecting the Top 2 Teams in the NBA for 2020 and 2021

If the playoffs were held today, the Los Angeles Lakers would be the top seed in the West and the Milwaukee Bucks would be the top seed in the East. This is, of course, assuming the 2020 season resumes. To meet in the NBA Finals, the Lakers would have to defeat Memphis in the first round. They would then have to defeat either Utah or Oklahoma City in the second round. We feel that they would most likely have to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals. Now, that would be an amazing series. We do have to say, however, that Denver and Houston also have an excellent shot at getting to the Western Conference Finals.

In the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks would have to defeat Orlando in the first round and Miami or Indiana in the second round. They would then most likely face Boston or Toronto in the Eastern Conference Finals. Toronto, of course, are the reigning NBA Champions, winning the title in 2019. We feel the Raptors could be a serious threat to the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals. However, if the Bucks can get through the Raptors, that could set the stage for an amazing NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.

What Would the Lakers vs. Bucks Match-Up in the Next NBA Finals Look Like?

LeBron James vs. the “Greek Freak” would definitely excite NBA fans around the world. Many fans are already placing their bets on who will win the NBA Finals. If the season is canceled, they can still place their bet on who they think will win next year. In any case, the key when analyzing this potential 2020 match-up is to pay attention to whether or not Anthony Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be healthy.

Davis was hurt the last time he faced the Bucks with the Lakers. He had a sprained right ankle. He finished the game with 34 points, but he only scored eight points in the first half.

Antetokounmpo recently suffered a sprained knee. If he’s healthy, he could be a tremendous force in the NBA Finals. In fact, we would add that to make it to the Finals at all, both the Lakers and Bucks will likely need their top players healthy.

Another key in this match-up would be how aggressive LeBron James is. James hasn’t been scoring as much this year as he has in years past. However, his team is doing extremely well. He claims not to care if he wins the MVP over Antetokounmpo; however, we do think that a head-to-head match-up could bring the best out of King James in the NBA Finals.
