Know More about the Windshear Sword in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (and how to obtain it!)

In November 2011, the Bethesda Game Studios created an action role-playing game called The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is the fifth among the installment of The Elder Scrolls series that followed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The game’s main story focuses on the player’s character called the Dragonborn. In the Skyrim game, the Dragonborn’s quest is to defeat a dragon that was prophesied to annihilate the world. The Skyrim’sgameplay was set 200 years after the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Throughout the game, the Dragonborn player needs to improve skills and completes several quests. Aside from that, the player also needs to explore dangerous dungeons, defeat enemies and bosses. Of course, to do all that, the Dragonborn player needs a weapon.

In the game, the player could craft some of their weapons, but some of those can be obtained. While there were other potent weapons in the Skyrim, the Windshear sword seemingly stand out. But, what exactly is the Windshear sword?

What is Windshear?

Aside from the fact that some of the scimitar’s weaponsare hard to find, they also add weight to the inventory. However, Windshear is a scimitar you should definitely look for. This sword has a unique ability that appears to be a bug. Its attack has the capacity to stagger the player’s opponents. Interestingly, this weapon could also stagger giants and even dragons! According to most of the players who had wielded the magical sword, the Windshear can paralyze the enemies for a tenth of a second. Moreover, using the sword, the enemies have no powers to attack the wielder, given the Dragonborn strike on the right timing.

How to Obtain the Windshear?

As mentioned earlier, scimitar weapons like the Windshear are hard to find. Considering its great abilities and the fact that it was a scimitar weapon, the reason it is hard to come by in the game is apparent.

In the gameplay, to obtain the sword, you will need to start the quest ‘Hail Sithis!’ It is impossible to get the Windshear until this quest has been started. Consequently, this also means that the sword remains unavailable if you finished the quest called ‘Destroy the Dark Brotherhood’ instead of ‘Hail Sithis!’

Here is a quick walkthrough on the Hail Sithis! Quest:

At the start of the quest, the player will need to travel to Whiterun and talk to a Breton named AmaundMotierre. Upon meeting him, the player will be hired to assassinate the Emperor. Also, you will be given a note with instructions for three separate killings. These three contracts will set the stage for the Emperor’s death.

Next, after knowing the Emperor’s location, you will need to travel on the docks outside the place called Solitude. In there, you will see an Imperial warrior responsible for the Emperor’s safety on his visit. It is optional whether you want to kill him or not. However, if he sees you, he will immediately attack you.

After that, the player should board the Katariah. It is a personal transport vessel of Emperor Titus Mede II. This ship has two zones, the Emperor’s Quarters and The Katariah. From here, the player can look from the Windshear sword stuck in the Katariah’s bowsprit.

With the Windshear at hand, you can now conquer enemies that other weapons cannot defeat, like giants and dragons. Nevertheless, if you still want to finish the Hail Sithis! Quest, here are the next steps you will need to follow. In The Katariah, the Dragonborn player should kill Emperor Titus Mede II.

Then, you will need to return to Motierre to know the dead drop’s location. Following that, if you wanted to fulfill the Emperor’s dying wish, you can kill AmaundMotierre. But again, that is optional.

Next, travel to a place called Volunruud to collect your reward. That place is a tomb that contains a word wall for Aura Whisper, a dragon shouts (also The Voice or Thu’um.)Aside from that, it contains the treasure and the dead body of the Tongue Chieftain Kvenel.Lastly, to finish the quest, the player needs to go to Nazir, a Redguard assassin, at the Dawnstar Sanctuary. In there, he will offer you to join the Dark Brotherhood.
