iPhone 12 Line-up Review

The newest generation of iPhones are finally here! Apple has been hitting the markets with this new line-up throughout the world from late October and into November and by the end of this month will have released all models across all regions and countries globally. This line-up is the broadest in number of models if separate storage options are counted with the four phones: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max all with varying options in terms of data storage capabilities.

Given this range of options as well as the much-covered controversy regarding USB-C charging, there is a lot to look at! With regards to the charging issue, to cut a long and already much reported story short – Apple decided as an environmental measure to not include EarPods and power adapters in the packaging for their new iPhones. Unfortunately they have still included a USB-C to Lightning cable, which will not work with power adapters that iPhone users currently have, meaning they will have to purchase a new power adapter in any case if they wish to utilize the fast charging feature of these new phones. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the new iPhones!

iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 is the default and likely to be the most common purchasing option for this new lineup and for this reason can be considered a kind of standard against which to compare the other models. It features Apple’s new flagship A14 Bionic Chip – the currently fastest chip sold in any smartphone. It boasts an impressive 6.1” display and strong ceramic shield protection coupled with aluminium covering. This new generation of protection is predicted to provide the best defence yet against accidental phone damage. Its sizable battery handles up to 17 hours of video playback. It will be offered with 64, 128 or 256 GB capacity.

One of the most popular features of iPhones through the years has been their cameras. And the new lineup of iPhones is no different in this regard. The whopping 12 MP dual front and rear-facing cameras will blow away users of this phone in the current generation. While the iPhone 12 camera has already been massively praised across multiple outlets, the camera on the iPhone 12 Pro is something extra special, which we will get to shortly.

iPhone 12 mini

First, let’s look at the iPhone 12 mini. Following their normal convention, Apple is releasing this mobile phone as a slimmed down version of the iPhone 12 – it’s smaller coming it at only 5.4” in screen size, lighter, a hundred bucks or so cheaper, but otherwise looks to provide the same ample performance capacities of its bigger brother the iPhone 12. This is great news for those of us who are otherwise used to other manufacturers that tend to provide a much weaker product in their equivalent slimmed down versions. One minor difference is that the iPhone 12 mini’s battery is a little smaller and will only provide 15 hours of video playback – otherwise, powering your media consumption, video and mobile casino games on the iPhone is completely fine. Just like the iPhone 12, it will be available with 64, 128 or 256 GB capacity.

iPhone 12 Pro

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are two different models but are very similar in their expanded functionality. The major difference that most consumers will note with these phones’ relative to the regular iPhone 12 is the much-anticipated and seemingly just-as-highly-delivering spectacular camera. Indeed, it has already been said that these phones may be worth purchasing just for the camera alone! With their added lens, zoom functionality, LiDAR scanner, 60 fps recording capacity and all the bells and whistles you would anticipate of such a high-end product, you will be absolutely amazed by the quality of pictures you can take with this camera. Beyond the camera, it differs chiefly relative to the iPhone 12 in its stainless steel, instead of aluminium, finish. It also comes with different and larger storage options – 128, 256 or 512 GB.

iPhone 12 Pro Max

Finally, the iPhone 12 Pro Max, augments the already stunning camera from the regular iPhone 12 Pro, with greater zoom capabilities owing to the larger frame of the phone. Indeed the screen size of this phone expands from the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro’s 6.1” to an impressive 6.7”. What’s more it packs a bigger battery capable of serving up 20 hours of video playback, and like the iPhone 12 is protected by stainless steel. With the same storage options as the iPhone 12 Pro available for purchase, this model should be considered chiefly for those looking for that larger display, otherwise there are few significant differences between this model and the iPhone 12 Pro.

Conclusion

Whichever iPhone 12 model you choose to go for, you won’t be disappointed. Apple have knocked it out of the park with these new phones. The iPhone 12 mini is more than enough for most everyday needs but the decent 6.1” screen size of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will be what most consumers are looking for. The iPhone 12 Pro builds on the already excellent camera of the iPhone 12 with its new bar-setting camera, but goes on to add greater storage options and a more solid protective casing. For those of you out there looking for a larger phone, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is a no-brainer – it’s bigger screen will be just what you want!
