Choosing The Perfect Mattress For RV: A Short Checklist

If you’re the type of individual who likes an outdoor getaway, then you’ve probably been dreaming about a motorhome or a recreational vehicle (RV). New RVs generally come with mattresses, but they are not considered to be the most convenient part of the whole thing. Unless you’re going to spend plenty of time in your RV, you may want to start considering the thought of changing the mattress for RV.

Moreover, it is important to keep in mind that some forms of RV mattresses cannot be removed nor replaced. If that is the case, then you might want to think about only buying an outstanding topper mattress for RV. When you have a pull-out sofa in your camper, removing the mattress may not be a choice either.

To help you find the perfect mattress for RV, here are some factors to consider:

  • If you can go out to find everything that you think is going to remind you of your bed at home, make sure it’s not going to be a challenge to mount it in your RV. Any of the smaller versions are designed outside the sleeping quarters simply because the mattresses are too large to fit inside the frame. Often a fresh mattress needs to be split in half to fit, which will work far more on a memory foam than an inner bed.
  • Some RV mattresses are modified to meet the accommodation requirements in the motor home. As you may already know, corners may be rounded or cut off. And if they are called King and Queen, it is essential to remember that not all the queens in the campers are of the same size. Measure the floor and the old mattress when you shop in order to be on the safe side.
  • Purchasing a luxurious memory foam mattress only to break it in half doesn’t seem like a good choice for you, instead, you may want to try an air mattress. There are a number of different brands and styles available at every shop. Others also come with the option of blowing up opposite sides to satisfy the needs of two distinct sleepers.
  • You should look into it whether you can remove and replace your mattress on your RV. Are all of the corners rounded off to create more space for a bathroom or storage area? If so, then you’re going to need a specialty mattress so that you save more money. More importantly, decide what you want, and choose what option will better fit your requirements through careful research and reviewing feedback.
  • Weight is another factor to consider. RVs are more constrained in weight than their homes. And while we do like a high-quality, supportive mattress, we also don’t want to put in some more weight than we need. Also take note that the mattress needs to be more flexible because you need to think of moving through the door of your RV and maneuvering it into a narrower area when you head into the bedroom.

Furthermore, many medium-sized and larger recreation vehicles (RVs) come fitted with any type of bed that can accommodate a mattress, but sleeping spaces are usually narrower than regular beds and built for low-profile mattresses. RV owners searching for a mattress will usually select from unique RV mattresses that come in various sizes, designed specifically for RV beds; or regular mattresses with lower-than-average dimensions that fit perfectly into RV room spaces.
