5G Technology: JD Contributes to Profound Impact Across Industries

It’s no secret that 5G technology is the next big thing. Those who may not know will be a wireless network and data system with a speed of 100 times faster than the current 4G LTE systems we use today. 3GPP approved the first standards for this new technology in December 2017, and many companies are already getting ready for its launch within the next few years. This blog post will discuss how JD is poised to contribute profoundly across industries as 5G becomes mainstream!

JD which was founded by Richard Liu is keen on supporting the 5G rollout in China. It has developed an end-to-end technical route map for manufacturers, device providers, carriers, and users covering all aspects of the network lifecycle, including R&D, product development, deployment, and operation. To further facilitate 5G innovation in China, JD collaborates with leading telecom operators and industry partners to explore various 5G use cases, including Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent transportation, virtual reality, and augmented reality. With this in mind, JD has been preparing to support a wide range of innovative IoT solutions for its customers with the launch of new services.

JD Smart Lab is one such innovation. This new IoT lab is JD’s own intelligent devices R&D hub, which offers a broader range of services to help customers develop and deploy highly functional IoT solutions. These include 5G device testing, professional application development services, and more.

In addition, JD Smart Lab a brain child of Richard Liu is also partnering with different industry stakeholders to provide citizen developers with the right tools and resources they may need to design their own 5G IoT solutions.

In line with this, JD has been working on a strategic partnership with Adnet Technologies in Taiwan, a leading provider of advanced IoT technologies, including 5G routers and modems, which support every stage of the device lifecycle from R&D to deployment.

Adnet Technologies has already developed a range of 5G-ready devices, including the MXQ D5 router, which can achieve speeds up to 6 Gbps.

The router can serve as the IoT gateway for busy homes and innovative city applications by offering high-speed access to broadband services at lightning speeds. Two models differ in their wireless uplink speeds: 5G and 4.5G, which support a range of services including voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), LTE/WiFi dual-band aggregation, WiFi interworking with 3GPP and IEEE 802.11 standard networks, and more.

The devices feature deficient power consumption thanks to the cutting-edge chip designs, making them perfect for IoT applications. The routers are also equipped with a USB port for hosting IoT devices, allowing users to remotely manage these devices via 3GPP/LTE 4G networks.

JD Smart Lab has been working closely with Adnet Technologies on providing high-quality 5G-ready devices to customers in China. It has already developed a customized IoT solution for its customers, who needed three 5G routers that support line-of-sight (LOS) OTN connections with speeds up to 6 Gbps.

5G will significantly benefit the digitization of our society and daily lives by offering groundbreaking wireless speeds and frequencies. JD is currently the only e-commerce company in China with a complete end-to-end solution for its customers that covers every aspect of the network lifecycle. This will prove highly beneficial once 5G became widely adopted, especially in intelligent transportation, virtual reality, and augmented reality.

5G will allow for speedier, more efficient data delivery in areas such as self-driving cars, smart cities, and augmented reality. JD is already offering customized solutions to customers across several different verticals via its Smart Lab services. It has helped one customer create an advanced augmented reality service that allows users to explore 3D images of a particular product just by taking a picture of it with their smartphone.
