The
cast of Stephen Sommer’s G.I. JOE movie has been generating buzz for months now. Yet despite some
stellar, and
not so stellar casting choices for the film’s iconic roles, one casting decision has kept fans listless with make-or-break anticipation: who will play the role of ‘JOE leader, Duke?
That decision has been officially narrowed to three actors, according to
Latino Review. Matthew Fox (LOST), Chris Evans (FANTASTIC FOUR) and Channing Tatum (STEP UP), have all made it to producers’ final round of consideration. Sam Worthington (HART’S WAR) was formerly rumored to have been a top candidate for the role, but had to decline the part due to his commitment to James Cameron’s
AVATAR.
For my money, NONE of these guys is a proper choice to play Duke. (Though Fox would be perfect for the role of Falcon, Duke’s hotheaded protégée.) Duke was always a rock-solid leader, stern and strong—the kind of “man’s man” that these three Sally’s definitely aren’t. Keeping that fact in mind, take a look over the headshots again, and rant back to me about which actor you think should get the role.
